General
No, Yes and Sometimes. It really varies patient to patient. Once you have improved and your objective testing has normalized we will make some recommendations to help keep the results we have achieved. This can be anywhere from once a month, to once a quarter, or twice a year (like your dentist). Or, you can come back when you’re ready to drag yourself through the door again – though no doctor would recommend it. The choice is ultimately yours.
No. Cracking is not a part of specific upper cervical protocols.
Upper Cervical treatments are extremely gentle. Since 2000 we’ve had one person say it “pinched”. Most patients are amazed by how gentle it is.
It’s a precise form of chiropractic that focuses on the top two vertebrae in the neck — the atlas (C1) axis (C2) and occiput (C0) — to restore alignment and improve nervous system function.
Yes we take care of that, also. For two reasons.
- To support your body as it unwinds and returns to normal after an upper cervical correction.
- For the treatment, care and support of a body that lives life and has encountered challenges, accidents and stress, physical or otherwise.
These also are very gentle adjustments and involve no twisting, cracking or popping, though sometimes the body does make a bit of noise.
See more about how we make adjustments throughout the spine.
The goal is stability, not frequency. After the initial correction, follow-ups are designed to monitor whether your body is maintaining the alignment.
Some patients feel changes immediately, while for others it may take a few weeks as the body adapts and heals.
Upper cervical chiropractic care is a unique and gentle approach that focuses on the most important connection in your body — the relationship between your head and neck. This area is small, but incredibly important. It’s the electrical, mechanical, and fluid (CSF and vascular) interface between your brain and the rest of your body. When it’s out of alignment, it can create obstacles that keep your body from functioning and healing the way it’s supposed to.
Logistics
We accept credit cards, checks or cash.
We only accept Anthem BC/BS and Medicare. They aren’t perfect but will be a significant help.
Yes. If you’ve been in an accident and have one helping you, that’s fine with us. They love our exams, notes and details – sometimes we uncover evidence of injury not seen before.
We’ll need your x-ray images, listings/vectors, and a treatment note with clinical indicators. We’ll then do an exam and see if we need to fill in any information or gaps. Every transfer is different, but we will use as much information as possible from your prior upper cervical office. Sometimes it makes sense to have a fresh start – that’s an option, too.
Appointment Prep
No. We have to gather a lot of information, then analyze it and develop a plan specific for you. This level of clinical care takes time.
Comfortable clothes. No metal, no jewelry or hair accessories other than a hair tie or scrunchie.
Yes. Upper cervical chiropractic care can be used alongside other medical or therapeutic treatments. Some manual treatments may need to be paused or stopped for a while.
